The Air Jordan XV (15) sneaker came out in 1999 after Jordan's second retirement and there were some that thought the entire line should be retired along with him. But with the shoes popular success and it's designer as well as Michael Jordan himself wanting the line to go on, the Jordan 15 was born and was made to pay respects to the many great years of Jordan on the court.

The tongue on the Jordan 15 shoe stick out a little, perhaps as a tribute to Michael's signature tongue that he loved to stick out of his mouth as he made his moves to the hoop. The 15's were not as popular as the company had hoped and some complained of quality issues.

This shoe was based on the X-15 fighter plane that broke all kinds of world records with its top speed of over 4,500 miles per hour.  Many people wanted the Jordan line to be retired since Michael was retiring himself, but obviously the line went on.  And the AJ15 was a very popular shoe, so much so that when the air Jordan retro 15 shoes were made they sold for $150 and sold out in minutes.
