Nike Air Jordan One Shoes
Air Jordan 1 is the shoe that started it all in 1985. This shoe has led to the status of one of the most fantastic legacies in sneakers and sports shoes that has ever been made, making the term "Jordans" almost more synonymous with the shoe than the man himself. In 1985 Nike was having a difficult time breaking in to the shoe market, dominated by Converse which also made attractive offers to Michael, offers which if he had chosen, we would not have ever known the joy of buying Jordans on a Saturday.
Design and colorways of the Air Jordan One Shoe:
Peter Moore was the designer of this shoe that set the basketball world on fire. Although there have been many fakes made through out the years, there was only one original Jordan shoe and it came in two colorways with 2 different colors of shoe laces to match these colorways. Ultimately there have been 23 colorways that the Jordan One shoes came in throughout the years, and that number even exceeds the amount of colorways that came with the Air Jordan 11 infamous sneaker.
Retros of the Jordan I
When the Air Jordan I's were first retroed they actually hardly sold at all and were priced at $20 in some places, which would be considered a steal today. This was in 1994 and the full fervor for the shoes had not yet climaxed. In 2001 Nike decided to try to retro the shoes again and this time they sold out in a few minutes at some stores. The Jordan shoe fever was spreading.
In 2002, Nike decided to try a different approach to how shoes are retroed and they are made with a modern twist with a few basic modifications to give them more appeal. But then again, nothing beats an origniall pair from 1985, which can sell for more than $4,000 on ebay.
